Hwasun-gun Holds Ceremony for the 40th County Residents' Day

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the morning of the 13th that it held the ‘40th Citizens' Day’ commemorative ceremony non-face-to-face at the county office's large conference room.

On this day, only a minimum number of people attended, including Governor Gu Chung-gon, Chairman Choi Ki-cheon and members of the county council, and heads of local institutions and social organizations.

Citizens participated in the ceremony via Zoom, and it was broadcast live on the county's official YouTube channel (channel name: Hwasun County Office).

In his commemorative speech, Governor Gu Chung-gon said, “While preparing for the ceremony, I reviewed the promises made during the 6th and 7th elected terms to realize ‘Premium Hwasun, Happy Hwasun’ and to give ‘Pride in Living in Hwasun.’ We will do our best to overcome COVID-19, restore daily life and the local economy, and raise the level of ‘Pride in Living in Hwasun.’”

He continued, “We mentioned achievements such as the opening of the 700 billion won budget era, the first certification in Jeonnam as a child, women, and elderly-friendly city, the comfortable 100 won taxi, 1000 won bus operation, and expansion of the vaccine and bio-industry base. We will ensure that no citizen is left behind on the path to daily life recovery.”

The ceremony shared a future vision through a video depicting Hwasun’s 100 years and present, and its development as a K-Global vaccine hub.

On this day, the ‘Citizen Award’ was given to An Byung-wook, former director of the Academy of Korean Studies, who contributed to the truth-finding of civilian victims in the Hwasun area and local community development in the regional social development sector, and to Han Han-guk, chairman of the World Peace Love Federation known as a world peace writer, in the education, culture, and sports sector.

Last year, the Citizens' Day event was not held due to the spread of COVID-19.

This year, the ceremony was held non-face-to-face to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and restore daily life.
