Choi Tae-won-led Seoul Chamber of Commerce Holds Executive Meeting... The Topic is 'New Entrepreneurship'
Agenda ▲National Development Projects ▲Communication Platform ▲Spread of New Entrepreneurship
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) executive meeting was held unexpectedly. The agenda included national development projects, a public communication platform, and ways to spread a new entrepreneurial spirit. This is interpreted as a signal that the Chamber of Commerce will actively work to promote a "new entrepreneurial spirit that empathizes with society and solves problems" following Chairman Chey Tae-won's inauguration.
The Korea and Seoul Chambers of Commerce announced on the afternoon of the 13th that they held the second executive meeting of the Seoul Chamber since Chairman Chey Tae-won's inauguration at the Chamber of Commerce building in Jung-gu, Seoul. Key representatives from large corporations to small and medium enterprises gathered in one place. In fact, 12 executives including Chairman Chey Tae-won, Gong Young-woon Hyundai Motor President, Lee Hyung-hee SK Social Value (SV) Committee Chairman, Lee Bang-su LG President, Lee Dong-woo Lotte Holdings President, Kwon Hyuk-woong Hanwha President, Seo Kyung-bae Amorepacific Chairman, Kim Nam-goo Korea Investment Holdings Chairman, Lee Woo-hyun OCI Vice Chairman, Hyun Jung-eun Hyundai Group Chairwoman, Lee Han-joo Bespin Global CEO, and Woo Tae-hee Korea and Seoul Chamber's Executive Vice Chairman were present.
The agenda for the day was ▲ National Development Project Contest ▲ Opening of a Public Communication Platform ▲ Spread of a New Entrepreneurial Spirit. This aligns with Chairman Chey Tae-won's inaugural message of a "new entrepreneurial spirit that empathizes with society." The executive team once again expressed their determination to resolve the widespread anti-business sentiment in our society through a new communication paradigm.
The "2021 National Development Project Contest," which closed submissions on September 24, has received ideas from about 4,700 teams (over 7,200 applicants) and is currently undergoing document screening. The executives plan for business leaders to directly engage in mentoring outstanding ideas. These more evolved ideas, nurtured by entrepreneurs, will compete in a final audition at the end of the year with public support.
They also discussed the establishment of the "Korea Chamber of Commerce Communication Platform," a channel for gathering opinions from the business community. The purpose is to create a space where companies and the general public can express opinions on economic and social issues, and bring them to public discussion through debates and voting.

Finally, the meeting concluded with discussions on ways to spread the "new entrepreneurial spirit." Over the past six months, the Chamber has shared with the executives the voices of about 30,000 citizens collected through sectoral meetings and public communication projects. The executives agreed on the importance of deeply empathizing with the public's affectionate criticism and expectations of businesses and showing a changed image in response. They reportedly discussed measures to promote the "new entrepreneurial spirit."
