Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 13th that it installed a life-saving rocket launcher at the Muncheonji water sports training center on the 9th to assist in rapid rescue missions in preparation for water accidents.
As various water accidents have continuously occurred in reservoirs and rivers over the past four years, Gyeongsan City assigned a special mission to this rocket launcher.
Additionally, the rocket launcher was installed to prevent safety accidents at Muncheonji, where the national disabled sports competition rowing events will be held from the 20th and where citizens regularly participate in water experience events.
The life-saving rocket launcher can fire a life-saving tube up to 60 meters away 40 times consecutively using a launcher. The launched tube inflates within 2 to 3 seconds after reaching the water surface, enabling quick rescue of drowning victims.
Mayor Choi Young-jo said, “As more people enjoy water sports, we decided to install a rocket launcher capable of rescuing lives within the golden time in high-risk water accident areas.”
