Gochang-gun Selected for Next Year's Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project and Other Competitions

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 13th that it has been consecutively selected for the ‘2022 New Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’ and the ‘Expansion Infrastructure Creation Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and implemented by the Korea Energy Agency.

The New Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project involves a total project cost of 2.89 billion KRW (1.44 billion KRW from the national government, 1.06 billion KRW from the county, and 390 million KRW in self-contribution, etc.).

A total of 385 sites, including 358 solar power sites, 17 solar thermal sites, and 10 geothermal sites, have been confirmed for installation in houses and buildings in Gochang-eup, Gosu-myeon, Sinrim-myeon, and Heungdeok-myeon, with renewable energy facilities scheduled to be installed next year.

Applicants are required to bear about 14% of the installation cost.

The county formed a consortium with specialized renewable energy facility companies from February to apply for the project.

After surveying demand and preparing for the application evaluation, they achieved the great success of being selected for the convergence project.

In addition, the ‘Renewable Energy Expansion Infrastructure Creation Project (formerly Regional Support Project)’ was also selected for the second consecutive year following this year’s selection.

The Expansion Infrastructure Creation Project promotes energy facilities in public institutions, and this year, solar power generation facilities were installed in 56 senior citizen centers within the jurisdiction.

Next year, renewable energy facilities are planned to be installed in 47 senior citizen centers and 4 administrative welfare centers.

A county official said, “Renewable energy not only reduces the use of fossil fuels to achieve carbon neutrality but also shows visible effects such as electricity bill reduction for residents participating in the project, resulting in high satisfaction among residents. We will continue to strive to widely distribute safe and clean eco-friendly energy to residents.”
