[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Seoul Business Agency announced on the 12th that it will hold the ‘2021 AI·Robot Hackathon in Magok’ in collaboration with Makerspace specialized lab G-Camp, global AI computing company NVIDIA, and AI Robotics Korea, an artificial intelligence robotics community.

This hackathon event was prepared to provide an opportunity for prospective entrepreneurs and startups interested in AI·robot hackathons and idea planning to verify the feasibility of actual product commercialization.

The event will be held with a total of 20 teams. From October to November, technical workshops and the hackathon will take place at Seoul Startup Hub M+ in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Eligibility requires teams of about three members including H/W and S/W developers, with at least 50% of the members being related to Seoul, such as residents of Seoul, employees of companies located in Seoul, or university students in Seoul.

The technical workshop, differentiated from existing hackathons, will be conducted over four weeks. It is expected to enhance the completeness of the results by utilizing NVIDIA’s Jetson edge AI platform and Jetbot robotics kit.

Teams participating in the technical workshop will be provided with development kits worth approximately 700,000 KRW (such as Jetson Nano, Jetbot Advanced) and development support funds up to 200,000 KRW for practice and product/service implementation. Additionally, technical consulting from experts affiliated with partner organizations NVIDIA and AI Robotics KR, as well as processing support using specialized equipment such as 3D modeling and printing, CNC machining, circuit design, and PCB support, will be provided.

Teams completing the workshop will implement their final results through a 2-day, 1-night hackathon at the end of November. Six final teams will be selected through professional judges and peer evaluation, and a total prize of 7.5 million KRW along with certificates will be awarded.

Moon Guseon, head of the SBA Base Support Headquarters, said, “We hope that through this hackathon held at Seoul Startup Hub M+, many startups with AI·robot technology will have the opportunity to test the feasibility of actual product commercialization by utilizing the platform and development kits.”
