MOF to Hold Online Korean Seafood Expo from 12th to 14th
"Support for Overcoming Exporters' Market Development Difficulties"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 11th that it will hold the online seafood expo '2021 KOREAN SEAFOOD ON-LINE EXPO' for three days starting from the 12th. This is because many international expos have been canceled due to COVID-19, causing difficulties for domestic seafood exporters in developing sales channels.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries decided to continue the online expo, which it started hosting last year. Earlier in June, the ministry held a non-face-to-face export consultation meeting between 48 domestic companies and 82 overseas buyers, helping companies secure export contracts worth approximately 7 billion KRW. It also provided opportunities to promote Korean seafood to overseas consumers through 37 online and offline distribution stores in five countries including Thailand and Malaysia.
This expo will be divided into one-on-one non-face-to-face export consultations and an export product exhibition. One-on-one non-face-to-face export consultations will be held between about 200 overseas buyers from countries such as the United States, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia, Europe, and North America, and about 70 domestic companies at the Seafood Trade Support Center. The ministry will provide interpretation services in eight languages and support the production of web content related to product sample overseas shipping and product information.
Additionally, through four permanent exhibition halls?the K-FISH brand promotion hall, refrigerated and frozen seafood products hall, processed seafood products hall, and seaweed and marine algae food hall?900 products from 198 domestic companies will be exhibited to provide opportunities for promotion to overseas buyers.
Kim Jaecheol, Director of Fisheries Policy at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, said, "To increase trust in our country's export products, we will strengthen support for export expansion by inviting overseas buyers and promoting factory tours."
This expo will be held on the export support platform website. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Trade Business Division of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives.
