[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] At the Democratic Party of Korea's Gyeonggi regional primary, a physical altercation broke out among supporters of various candidates, and the so-called "Lee Jae-myung brother-in-law curse video" surfaced, creating a tense standoff.
On the afternoon of the 9th, in front of the Suwon Convention Center in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, where the Democratic Party's 10th joint presidential primary debate was held, a huge crowd of Democratic Party supporters gathered.
Meanwhile, a YouTuber affiliated with a conservative group broadcasted an audio clip of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung's so-called brother-in-law curse from a truck that had one side converted into a large electronic billboard. The YouTuber repeatedly shouted slogans such as "Special prosecution for Hwacheon Daeyu" from atop the vehicle.
In response, Lee's supporters strongly protested, shouting "Remove the illegally parked vehicle" and "Turn off the video," leading to loud exchanges and even physical fights among Democratic Party supporters.
Eventually, the police intervened to stop the situation, and the broadcast was halted, bringing the incident to an end.
The YouTuber's side explained, "We informed the public about Lee's brother-in-law curse for public interest purposes," adding, "The election commission said mentioning a specific candidate violates election laws, so we stopped the broadcast midway."

Chanting "We will protect you, Lee Nak-yeon" and "Master of comebacks, Lee Nak-yeon," they shouted "Hwacheon Daeyu" upon Lee Jae-myung's arrival at the venue, highlighting the responsibility issue regarding Lee's alleged preferential treatment in the Daejang-dong development project. One supporter even threw a piece of torn paper at Lee.
On the other hand, supporters of former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae demonstrated the so-called "Myung-Choo (Lee Jae-myung?Choo Mi-ae) alliance" by shouting "One team" together with Lee's supporters. They cheered for the former minister with slogans such as "Choo-darc was right," "Blow, Choo wind; gather, candlelight."
Meanwhile, in the voting results that day, Lee Jae-myung received 56,820 votes (59.29%) out of 95,841 valid votes, placing first. Former leader Lee Nak-yeon came in second with 29,248 votes (30.52%).
The Democratic Party's presidential primary schedule in the Gyeonggi region will conclude after about a month with the announcement of the results of the third electoral college vote, involving 300,000 voters, on the 10th.
