[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission announced on the 8th that it has issued a forecast for complaints regarding flu vaccinations to local governments and related agencies nationwide.
It is expected that complaints will increase regarding eligibility for free vaccinations, inquiries about the interval between COVID-19 vaccines and flu shots, and difficulties in vaccination due to vaccine shortages. Related complaints totaled 1,714 cases over three years from January 2018 to December last year. The highest number of complaints occurred in October, as flu outbreaks typically happen from November to April each year.
Yang Jongsam, Director of the Policy Improvement Bureau at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, said, "Since flu vaccinations are being conducted alongside COVID-19 vaccinations, it is expected that there will be more related inquiries and inconveniences than usual," adding, "It is necessary for related agencies to actively respond to ensure that vaccinations proceed smoothly."

Meanwhile, the Commission reported that a total of 1,487,791 complaints were filed last month. This represents a 23.6% increase compared to 1,204,176 cases in September of the previous year and a 21.1% increase compared to 1,228,390 cases the previous month. The reason for the over 20% surge in complaints was an increase in complaints related to the National Support Fund. "National Support Fund appeals" ranked high among the main complaint keywords. However, the Commission did not disclose the specific number or growth rate of these complaints.
