[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced on the 7th that it will release videos of the Ondream Ensemble chamber music series performances, operated for classical music major scholarship students, on the foundation's YouTube channel.
For this online series, the Ondream Chamber Music Series performances held over three days?on the 4th, 16th, and 17th of last month?at the Recital Hall and Inchun Art Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, could not invite many audiences due to social distancing measures. However, the scholarship students and their faculty mentors presented a richer and more substantial program than any other performance.
The scholarship students prepared various stages together with the Ondream Ensemble faculty mentors, consisting of mezzo-soprano Yoon Hyun-joo (Professor Emeritus, Seoul National University), violinist Kim Hyun-mi (Professor, Korea National University of Arts), cellist Joo Yeon-sun (Professor, Chung-Ang University), trumpeter Sung Jae-chang (Professor, Seoul National University), flutist Lee Ye-rin (Professor, Korea National University of Arts), and pianist Lee Jin-sang (Professor, Korea National University of Arts).

Since 2011, the foundation has supported a cumulative total of 2,199 cultural and arts scholarship students, with funding amounting to approximately 8.8 billion KRW.
In particular, classical music scholarship students who participate in the Ondream Ensemble experience various programs to enhance their capabilities, including practical training with top domestic faculty, masterclasses with master-level performers, mentoring classes with mentors from various cultural and artistic fields, Ondream Ensemble concerts, and chamber music series. Additionally, they cultivate cultural literacy through sharing performances as talent donations by visiting culturally marginalized groups, helping them grow into next-generation musicians who expand the foundation’s mission.
Notable classical music scholarship students who have actively participated in the Ondream Ensemble and distinguished themselves include cellist Han Jae-min, the youngest winner of the George Enescu International Competition in May; violinist Wi Jae-won, runner-up in the same competition; violist Shin Kyung-sik, first place in the Johannes Brahms Competition; cellist Park Sang-hyuk, grand prize winner in the 2021 Sacred Music Awards; pianist Kim Song-hyun and cellist Cho Ye-won, grand prize winners in the 2020 Sacred Music Awards; and pianist Lim Yoon-chan, the youngest winner of the 2019 Yoon Isang International Music Competition.
