Unlike most sexual crime cases, attention was focused on the verdict due to the victim being male and the molestation involving the hand, but the court ruled guilty based on the victim’s detailed testimony.
The Suwon District Court Criminal Division 16 (Judge Song Myung-chul) sentenced Ms. A, a woman in her 50s who was summarily indicted for grabbing and fondling the hand of a male colleague in his 40s, to a fine of 2 million won and ordered her to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program on the 6th.
The court stated, "The victim gave a specific and consistent account of the incident, whereas the defendant’s testimony lacked consistency," and added, "The victim expressed considerable discomfort and shame by informing other colleagues of the incident, which is a natural reaction of a victim."
Furthermore, the court explained the sentencing rationale: "The defendant claims that the victim reported the incident six months after it occurred following a workplace dispute, arguing that the timing and circumstances are not smooth. However, considering the workplace atmosphere and the relationship between the two, it is difficult to conclude that the victim hesitated to report the incident immediately as unusual."
Earlier, Ms. A was summarily indicted on the charge of forcible molestation for approaching male colleague Mr. B on the afternoon of April 9 last year at the workplace under the pretext of explaining a company program, saying, "Your hands are so pretty," and touching his right hand.

Claiming innocence and requesting a formal trial, Ms. A argued in court, "I may have lightly tapped the back of the victim’s hand, but I did not forcibly molest him." However, Mr. B testified that "Ms. A grabbed and fondled the hand I was using to hold the mouse."
