[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon 'Soraepogu Festival,' established as a representative festival of the Seoul metropolitan area, will be held again after three years with a plan tailored to the With-Corona era.
Namdong-gu will hold the '21st Soraepogu Non-face-to-face Festival' for one month from October 22 to November 21 in the Soraepogu area and online.
First launched in 2001, the Soraepogu Festival is a representative festival of the Seoul metropolitan area attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists every year and was even selected as a 'Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
It was completely canceled in 2019 and last year due to African swine fever and the impact of COVID-19, but this year’s festival will welcome tourists again after three years.
In particular, this festival will be conducted in a non-face-to-face manner instead of large-scale performances or experiences in line with the With-Corona policy. To this end, most programs except for small-scale offline participation were composed as online content, and the festival period was extended from the usual three days to one month.
First, the 'AR Fish Market,' which applies augmented reality technology (AR), allows participants to experience as if they are visiting Soraepogu through online access.
Also, the 'Stamp Tour' to promote Namdong-gu’s tourist attractions will be divided into a GPS-based mobile tour and an offline tour through on-site participation. Visitors can tour seven representative tourist spots in Namdong-gu, including Soraepogu Traditional Fish Market, Sorae Wetland Ecological Park, and Jangasan Barrier-Free Sharing Trail, and receive small souvenirs.
An online contest open to anyone for non-face-to-face participation will also be held during the festival period. By submitting photos, videos, or drawings themed on Soraepogu, final winners will be selected through expert evaluation and online voting, and certificates and prize money will be awarded.
In addition, the Sorae Free Art Festival featuring performances by local cultural artists and Sorae online home shopping where flower crabs and salted shrimp can be purchased at half price on a first-come, first-served basis will be prepared.
During the festival period, the Soraepogu area will transform into a street of lights, offering sights and romance.
On the rooftop of the Soraepogu Traditional Fish Market, a dazzling nightscape themed on the Lighthouse of Hope illuminating Sorae, flower gardens, sailing ships, and starlight sky has been created, along with charming photo zones.
Opposite the market, the media facade 'Soraepogu History Show Painted with Light' installed on the exterior wall of the Sorae History Museum will be showcased, and unique photo zones will also be installed at Shrimp Tower and Neulsolgil Park, which are part of Namdong Dullegil Course 3.
