COVID-19 New Cases 2,564... Highest Daily Count for 1 Week Straight (Update)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases reached 2,564 on the 30th, marking the highest daily count for a week straight. Although it decreased by 321 from the previous day, it is the fourth largest scale since the domestic COVID-19 outbreak.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the 30th, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases increased by 2,564, bringing the total to 311,289. Of these, 2,539 were domestic cases and 25 were imported cases.
By region, Seoul reported 941 cases, Gyeonggi 879, and Incheon 148, totaling 1,968 cases (77.5%) in the metropolitan area.
Non-metropolitan areas reported a total of 571 cases (22.5%), including Daegu 73, Gyeongnam 68, Chungbuk 61, Chungnam 55, Gyeongbuk 52, Busan 49, Daejeon and Jeonbuk 35 each, Gangwon 32, Gwangju 31, Ulsan 27, Jeonnam 24, Jeju 15, and Sejong 14.
Among the 25 imported cases, 9 were identified during quarantine, and the remaining 16 were confirmed in the local community. Four were Korean nationals and 21 were foreigners. Twenty-two cases were confirmed from Asian countries excluding China.
The death toll increased by 7 from the previous day, totaling 2,481, with a fatality rate of 0.80%. The number of critically ill patients is 336.
The number of newly released from isolation increased by 1,481, bringing the cumulative total to 274,205.
The number of suspected cases tested was 58,998, and 106,613 tests were conducted at temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, confirming 793 positive cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 14,575 tests were conducted, identifying 51 positive cases, with a total of 180,186 tests conducted.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, 231,198 people received their first dose on the previous day, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 39,002,427. The vaccination rate for the first dose relative to the population is 76%.
