Deputy Governor Choi Young-ho and Chairman of the County Council Kim Jong-du met with Nam Tae-heon, Deputy Director of the Korea Forest Service, and proposed two projects with a total budget of 3.768 billion KRW: 3.268 billion KRW for the Gamaksan Flower & Star Barrier-Free Sharing Trail construction and 500 million KRW for the Forest House construction project promoting the use of domestic timber.
The Gamaksan Flower & Star Barrier-Free Sharing Trail project aims to create a circular barrier-free sharing trail at the Gamaksan Anti-Aging Wellness Experience Center, which has recently gained attention as a new tourist attraction. This project is intended to provide outdoor resting spaces and various experiential opportunities for non-face-to-face visitors and those with walking difficulties.
Additionally, the Forest House construction project promoting the use of domestic timber is aimed at expanding lodging facilities within Bbaejae Forest Leisure Sports Park. Currently, only one lodging facility, the Forest Recreation Hall with 10 rooms, exists. Through this project, with a secured budget of 500 million KRW from the project competition, six Forest Houses are planned to be built by the end of 2022.
The county stated that through the Gamaksan Barrier-Free Sharing Trail project, Gamaksan will establish itself as a stay-type tourist destination, allowing Geochang-gun to leap forward as a forest recreation city befitting its status as an anti-aging healing special zone. Geochang Gamaksan will become a new attraction for fun and healing with features such as purple aster flowers, wind turbines, forest experiences, sunsets, stars, night views of Geochang-eup, walking in the forest sky, and meditation.
