Jeonnam Province Wins Consecutive Awards at International Tourism Expo
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 24th that it participated consecutively in the 6th Korea International Tourism Expo and the 23rd Busan International Tourism Expo, winning the Best Booth Operation Award and a Special Award by promoting Jeonnam as a great autumn travel destination.
At the 23rd Busan International Tourism Expo held at BEXCO in Busan until the 19th, Jeonnam Province operated its booth while strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as social distancing viewing and booth disinfection, promoting Jeonnam’s safe travel tourism resources, and received the Best Booth Operation Award.
Jeonnam Province carried out promotional marketing on plans to operate Jeonnam tourism products to attract domestic and international tourists in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, in cooperation with Jeonnam product travel agencies in the Busan area such as Daeryuk Airlines Travel Agency and Kyunghee Tourism Travel Agency, receiving high evaluations.
Earlier, at the 6th Korea International Tourism Expo held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province until the 12th, Jeonnam Province received a Special Award for its contribution to revitalizing the tourism industry.
At this expo, the Smart Tourism Industry Conference was held, attracting attention by introducing various smart tourism trends such as tourism policies and innovative tourism services based on tourism statistics and big data, and startup cases of online travel agency (OTA) platforms in the smart tourism era.
Jeonnam Province plans to prepare to operate early reservation discount products for domestic travel, which were suspended due to COVID-19, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from November onward.
Additionally, Jeonnam Province intends to revitalize the Jeonnam travel industry by informing related travel agencies about the significantly reduced related documents and increased support amounts regarding the incentive support conditions for Jeonnam travel products, which were eased last July.
Jeonnam Province raised the travel agency support amounts from 100,000 KRW for groups of 4 to 8 people and 200,000 KRW for groups of 8 to 14 people to 250,000 KRW for groups of 4 to 14 people and 300,000 KRW for groups of 15 or more. The application documents were simplified from five types including usage confirmation to submitting only receipts.
Yoo Mija, Director of Tourism at Jeonnam Province, said, “We thank the residents and quarantine officials who strictly followed social distancing and wore masks during the Chuseok holiday,” adding, “We will carry out even more thorough quarantine activities so that visitors can travel safely in clean Jeonnam and warmly and kindly welcome tourists visiting Jeonnam.”
