Prosecutors Secure Fair Trade Commission Data in Investigation of Samsung Welstory's Unfair Support

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The prosecution has begun securing materials to investigate allegations of unfair support by Samsung Welstory.
According to the legal community on the 16th, the Fair Trade Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Ko Jinwon) presented a warrant to the Fair Trade Commission at the Government Sejong Complex the day before and received internal documents on a voluntary submission basis.
Earlier, the Fair Trade Commission pointed out that Samsung Group unfairly supported Samsung Welstory by concentrating affiliate meal supply volumes. Subsequently, correction orders were issued to Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, Samsung Welstory, and others, and a total fine of approximately 234.9 billion KRW was imposed.
In this process, former Samsung Future Strategy Office Chief Choi Jiseong and Samsung Electronics were reported to the prosecution for violating the Fair Trade Act.

The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, regarding the Fair Trade Commission's disposition, called it a "lenient punishment favoring Samsung" and filed a complaint against former Chief Choi and Samsung Electronics President Jung Hyunho on charges of breach of duty.
