60-Year-Old Man in His 60s Dies 23 Days After Respiratory Distress Following Second AZ Vaccination Dose
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] A man in his 60s in Jinju-si, Gyeongnam, who received the second dose of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine, showed adverse reactions starting a week after vaccination and died 23 days later.
According to the Jinju City Health Center on the 16th, a severe adverse reaction was reported on the 10th by Gyeongsang National University Hospital regarding Mr. A (63) after vaccination.
Mr. A, who received the first dose of the AZ vaccine on June 8, received the second dose of the same type on August 24.
On September 1, he complained of symptoms such as fever, dizziness, and nausea, and visited the emergency room of Hospital B, where he underwent various tests but was sent home without significant treatment.
Later, Mr. A showed abnormal symptoms again on the 5th and visited the same hospital's emergency room, but due to seizure symptoms and difficulty breathing, he was transferred to Gyeongsang National University Hospital.
He received treatment such as bronchial dilation in the intensive care unit and died on the 16th. It was confirmed that Mr. A had been taking blood pressure medication regularly.
