Five Accomplices Arrested for Kidnapping Middle School Girl and Stealing 27 Million Won in Voice Phishing Withdrawal Scheme
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Accomplices who kidnapped a middle school girl involved as a cash withdrawal agent in a voice phishing scheme and stole tens of millions of won in cash have been arrested by the police.
According to the police on the 16th, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul sent five suspects to the prosecution on the 14th on charges of special robbery for kidnapping middle school student A near Hongdae Entrance Station in Mapo-gu by car.
Three foreign men were detained, and two Korean teenage women were sent to prosecution without detention. Police investigations revealed that the suspects took about 27 million won in cash from A and dropped her off at a location in Yeongdeungpo-gu about an hour later.
The police, who responded to A's report, arrested the gang members one by one. The kidnapping victim A was involved as a withdrawal agent in the voice phishing crime and reportedly had been using the withdrawn money without handing it over to the organization.
