Seongnam City Invests 27.5 Billion Won to Establish an 'Intelligent Transportation System'
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will invest 27.5 billion KRW by 2023 to establish an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) throughout the city.
ITS is a next-generation traffic management system that integrates advanced technologies such as information and communication into traffic facilities like detectors and traffic lights to facilitate smooth vehicle flow.
Seongnam City plans to introduce an emergency vehicle priority signal system to secure golden time for ambulances and fire trucks, and operate a smart intersection system that assigns customized signals by analyzing traffic volume, speed, and queue length.
A parking information management system will also be implemented to collect real-time vacancy information of public parking lots and provide the service through an app.
