Japan Cabinet Office: "If Japanese Companies Liquidate Assets in Korea, It Will Cause a Serious Situation in Bilateral Relations"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kato Katsunobu, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, stated regarding the forced labor compensation lawsuit during the Japanese colonial period, "(If the assets of Japanese companies in Korea) are liquidated, it would cause a serious situation in Japan-Korea relations, so it must be avoided," NHK reported on the 13th.
According to the report, Kato made this remark at a regular press conference in the afternoon, saying, "The rulings of the Korean Supreme Court and related judicial procedures are clear violations of international law."
Earlier that day, the Supreme Court's First Division announced that it had dismissed the appeal against the 'seizure order of trademark rights' filed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries against Korean forced labor victims on the 10th.
