Jeon Ju-hye "Fairness of investigative agencies is important... Kim Woong's search and seizure is opposition suppression"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Jeon Juhye, a member of the People Power Party, raised her voice about the necessity of fairness in investigative agencies.
On the afternoon of the 13th, during a government questioning session held at the National Assembly, Rep. Jeon stated, "The neutrality, independence, and fairness of investigative agencies are extremely important."
Rep. Jeon claimed that on the 10th, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) illegally searched the office of Rep. Kim Woong of the People Power Party. She believed that proper procedures were not followed regarding Rep. Kim, who was in the position of a witness.
She emphasized, "It is unprecedented for the office of a lawmaker in the position of a witness to be searched. As soon as a civic group filed a complaint with the CIO on the 6th, the CIO swiftly registered former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and Prosecutor Son Joon-sung as suspects within three days. Then, on the very next day, the 10th, they searched the office of Rep. Kim Woong, who was in the position of a witness. This is a clear suppression of the opposition party and an excessive investigation."

Furthermore, Rep. Jeon said, "While Rep. Kim Woong was absent, the CIO came to his office, falsely claimed to have obtained permission from him, and proceeded with the search. No proper warrant was presented. Moreover, they searched and seized PCs of the aides that were not included in the scope of the warrant and opened the personal cabinets of the aides to search documents. Such actions constitute suppression of the opposition party and clearly amount to abuse of authority, obstruction of the exercise of rights, and illegal search."
