Honam University Office of International Exchange Conducts Short-Term Korean Language Program for International Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Honam University (President Park Sang-chul) announced that it will operate the Korean Language Short-Term Training Program for Foreign Students for the second semester of the 2021 academic year until December 25 to help foreign students have an efficient and positive Korean student life.
The short-term training program conducted by the Office of International Exchange (Director Son Wan-i) is a Korean language learning guidance management system that focuses on intensive Korean language lectures outside of majors for undergraduate and graduate students to help them obtain the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) certificate.
The program provides education five times a week for two hours each day under a homeroom system, with native speakers and Korean instructors teaching together. It emphasizes improving Korean language skills useful in daily life, including analyzing test types for reading, listening, and writing sections.
This semester, a total of 208 students (114 undergraduates and 94 graduates) will be divided into nine classes (one afternoon class and eight evening classes).
Son Wan-i, Director of the Office of International Exchange, said, “The pass rate for TOPIK level 3 or higher in this program, which started in the first semester of this year, reached 27.1%. Our top instructors will work even harder to achieve a higher pass rate in the second semester.”
