Yeosu 'Ungcheon Booyoung', Higher Sale Prices Than New Apartments 'Residents Protest'
Lee Sun-hyo, Yeosu City Council Member, Says 6-Year-Old 2nd and 3rd Appraisal Values Are Higher Than Under-Construction Sale Apartments
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] The appraised value of the Booyoung 2nd and 3rd phase apartments in Ungcheon, Yeosu, Jeonnam, which are about to be converted to sale, has been pointed out to be higher than that of newly constructed apartments, with many cases of poor construction.
On the 7th, at the 213th extraordinary session, Yeosu City Council member Lee Seon-hyo criticized the high sale prices of the Booyoung 2nd and 3rd phase apartments in Ungcheon, Yeosu, urging that “Yeosu City must actively implement administration to ensure that low-income households without homes can achieve their dream of owning a home through appropriate pricing, and that defects caused by poor construction are perfectly addressed.”
According to Councilor Lee, the appraised values for Ungcheon Booyoung 2nd and 3rd phases based on 84㎡ are 326.25 million KRW for the 2nd phase and 326.82 million KRW for the 3rd phase, which are higher than the sale prices of the Ungcheon Aesiang 1st and 2nd complexes scheduled for move-in in April 2022 (259 million KRW to 292 million KRW, 84.94㎡).
Accordingly, residents are protesting and urging for reasonable pricing by requesting the disclosure of apartment construction costs.
There were also criticisms regarding poor construction. Councilor Lee stated that residents have continuously raised issues such as floor subsidence in the underground parking lot due to poor construction, veranda leaks caused by wall cracks, cracks in the walls of the main entrance, and tiles falling off in the bathrooms, demanding perfect corrective measures.
Additionally, regarding the Booyoung 6th and 7th phase apartments in Ungcheon, scheduled for move-in in November 2021, there was a request to create a safe school route connecting the 7th phase, 6th phase, and Ungdong Elementary School for the safety of elementary school students commuting to school.
