Gyeonggi Dullegil 'Gimpo Daemyeong Port~Gapyeong Seorak Terminal' Pilot Opening at the End of September
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will prioritize the opening of a pilot section from Gimpo to Gapyeong ahead of the full completion of the 'Gyeonggi Dulle-gil,' a walking travel trail connecting the outskirts of the province, scheduled for the end of this year.
On the 14th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will open a pilot section of approximately 340 km from Daemyeong Port in Gimpo City to Seorak Terminal in Gapyeong County at the end of September to inspect the guidance system of the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil.
The pilot section from Gimpo to Gapyeong will pass through six areas: Gimpo, Goyang, Paju, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, and Gapyeong. Notably, this section includes existing walking travel trails such as Pyeonghwa Nuri-gil, Hantangang Columnar Joint Trail, Sanjeong Lake Dulle-gil, and Seohae-rang-gil. However, considering the COVID-19 situation, the specific opening schedule will be announced later.
During the pilot operation period, the province plans to provide a separate online guidance system through its website to assist residents preparing for walking trips. Additionally, the Gyeonggi Tourism Portal will offer comprehensive information on the entire Dulle-gil route, detailed information by section, symbolic marks, characters, and various other data. Furthermore, the current progress of each section managed by cities and counties will be disclosed in detail.
The Gyeonggi Dulle-gil project connects existing walking travel trails in 15 cities and counties on the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province, creating about 860 km of 60 courses. It is composed of four major zones: Gimpo to Yeoncheon, Yeoncheon to Yangpyeong, Yeoju to Anseong, and Pyeongtaek to Bucheon.
Along these routes, visitors can enjoy popular walking trails such as Pyeongtaek Seotgil, Daebu Haesol-gil, and Park Doo-jin Literary Trail, as well as tourist attractions like Sinreuksa Temple, Gungpyeong Port, Dongju Salt Farm, Siheung Lotus Theme Park, and Yangpyeong Saneum Recreation Forest.
The province began actively promoting the full development of the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil after establishing the basic plan in November 2018. To ensure safe and eco-friendly walking travel for residents, the province avoided dangerous paths such as forest roads and embankments and minimized the use of guide signs to reduce environmental damage.
