Expansion of Foreign Worker Employment Sites and Logistics Centers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] In the Gwangju area, the spread of COVID-19 continues mainly among foreigners and logistics centers.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 11th, as of 2 p.m. that day, 27 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, classified as numbers 4414 to 4440. Among them, 26 cases are local transmissions, and 1 case (number 4430) is related to overseas inflow.
Among the confirmed cases, 13 are related to workplaces employing foreigners (numbers 4416?4418, 4420, 4422, 4425, 4426, 4433?4435, 4437, 4438, 4440), 4 are related to a logistics center in Gwangsan-gu (numbers 4414, 4415, 4431, 4432), 1 is related to testing of foreigners in Gwangsan-gu (number 4419), 2 are related to a middle school in Buk-gu (numbers 4427, 4436), 3 are related to confirmed cases from other cities/provinces (numbers 4423, 4428, 4439), 1 is related to a previously confirmed case (number 4421), 2 are under investigation due to symptomatic testing (numbers 4424, 4429), and 1 is an overseas inflow case (number 4430).
Among the confirmed cases related to workplaces employing foreigners, 7 are from Kazakhstan, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 76.
The 4 confirmed cases related to the logistics center (numbers 4414, 4415, 4431, 4432) include 2 foreigners and 2 Koreans. All were isolated and tested positive after developing symptoms. The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the logistics center is now 42.
Through proactive testing of foreigners, 1 additional case (number 4419) was confirmed, and 2 more cases (numbers 4427, 4436) related to the middle school in Buk-gu were confirmed, increasing the total to 30.
One case (number 4421) related to entertainment establishments in Seo-gu (case number 4370) was confirmed, and 2 cases (numbers 4423, 4428) who had contact with confirmed cases from Seoul were also confirmed. Two cases (numbers 4424, 4429) tested positive through symptomatic testing, and health authorities plan to investigate the exact infection routes.
Case number 4430 is an overseas inflow case who tested positive during a test before release from quarantine after arriving from Indonesia.
