Muan-gun Samhyang-eup Conducts Traffic Safety Campaign for Chuseok

[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Samhyang-eup, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Eupjang Oh Seon-hee) announced on the 10th that it held a traffic safety campaign event on the 9th in preparation for the upcoming Chuseok holiday.

This event was held to inform that the Safe Speed 5030 policy, which lowers the speed limit to 50 km/h on general urban roads and 30 km/h or less on residential side streets for pedestrian traffic safety, is not a policy to punish drivers but a policy to enhance pedestrian safety.

About 30 officials from institutions and social organizations attended the campaign, including Provincial Assemblyman Na Gwang-guk, Chairman of the Village Chief Association Oh Chang-deok, Chairman of the Prosperity Association Lee Jong-in, Chief of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit Baek Seung-guk and members, Chairman of the Samhyang Development Council Im Deok-su, and members of the Namak District Police Station.

The participants wore shoulder sashes and crossed the crosswalk at the green signal while holding yellow big hands with the phrase "Thank you for safe walking."

They also distributed promotional leaflets to residents passing by the roadside and actively promoted the Safe Speed 5030 policy.

These activities served as an opportunity to inform drivers and residents about the meaning of the Safe Speed 5030 policy and to raise awareness about traffic accidents.

Baek Seung-guk, Chief of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit, said, "If this campaign can reduce traffic accidents even a little, I am willing to take time to participate in the event anytime next time."

Oh Seon-hee, Eupjang of Samhyang-eup, said, "I would like to thank everyone who participated in this campaign to promote the Safe Speed 5030 policy," and added, "I hope that not a single traffic accident occurs during this Chuseok holiday."
