Most kitchen fires occur due to cooking oil, and when a fire breaks out, people may unconsciously pour water on it. However, pouring water on a fire caused by cooking oil causes the water to vaporize in the heated oil, mixing with oil vapors and potentially intensifying the fire.
Therefore, a separate kitchen fire extinguisher should be placed in the kitchen to prepare for fire outbreaks. Kitchen fire extinguishers form an oil film layer on the surface of the oil to block oxygen contact and quickly lower the temperature of the cooking oil, making them essential for preventing kitchen fires.
A Seobu Fire Station official said, "Since kitchen fires are difficult to extinguish with water, additional placement of kitchen fire extinguishers is necessary to prevent fires that occur during food preparation."
