Jeongeup-si Accelerates Development of Four-Season Stay-Type Tourist Destination
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) is accelerating efforts to transform Naejangsan, which is concentrated on autumn tourism, into a year-round stay-type tourist destination.
Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, and Da-il Naejangsan Country Club Co., Ltd. announced on the 10th that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at City Hall to build hotel-type tourist accommodation facilities within the Naejangsan Resort tourist area.
This MOU will give momentum to the project to revitalize the local economy through the development of the tourism industry and to establish a foundation for a stay-type tourist destination at Naejangsan Resort.
In particular, amid a shortage of stay and accommodation facilities, attracting accommodation facilities from Da-il Naejangsan Country Club Co., Ltd., following the JB Financial Group Training Center and the National Pension Service Training Center, is expected to play a major foothold role in advancing Jeongeup as a year-round stay-type tourist city.
Da-il Naejangsan Country Club plans to build hotel-type tourist accommodation facilities such as pool villas on a 41,404.9㎡ site within the Naejangsan Resort tourist area by 2025.
The project will invest 45.8 billion KRW and will consist of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, including 75 pool villa rooms, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and restaurants.
The city will actively support various permits and administrative matters to ensure smooth progress of the project.
Da-il Naejangsan Country Club plans to faithfully carry out the construction of the hotel-type accommodation facilities and strive for successful project implementation.
The accommodation site is considered an optimal location surrounded by Naejangsan National Park and Yongsan Reservoir, where beautiful natural scenery and urban areas coexist.
It is especially close to major nearby cities such as Jeonju and Gwangju, about 40 minutes by car, and located 5 minutes from the Naejangsan Interchange on the Honam Expressway.
With high-speed rail access, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Seoul Yongsan Station and Suseo Station to Jeongeup Station, offering excellent geographical accessibility.
The city expects that once the training centers and accommodation facilities are completed, it will help create jobs through the consumption of local agricultural and livestock products and the hiring of accommodation facility staff.
Additionally, it is anticipated to greatly contribute to regional economic revitalization through economic synergy effects such as increased local tax revenue and regional development.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “I deeply thank Chairman Kim Ho-seok for his special affection and investment in the city’s tourism business,” and added, “I hope that this agreement will be an opportunity for Jeongeup City to be reborn as a year-round stay-type tourist city and greatly contribute to the local economy.”
Meanwhile, Chairman Kim Ho-seok of Da-il Naejangsan Country Club Co., Ltd. is a native of Jeongeup and has been operating Naejangsan Golf & Resort since 2015.
The parent company, Da-il Development Co., Ltd., was founded in 1983 and is a solid company with 99 employees and annual sales of 29.4 billion KRW.
