Naju-si, Putting Full Effort into Improving Odor from Livestock Farms
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) is making efforts to improve livestock odor within the jurisdiction.
The city announced on the 10th that it received an additional 27 new applicants for the Livestock Odor Improvement Support Project on the 7th.
The Livestock Odor Improvement Support Project, a public contest project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, was finally selected by the city in December of the previous year with a total project cost of 3.6 billion KRW, and currently, 38 out of 66 sites are carrying out the project.
The city is currently preparing for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' approval process for project plan changes by accepting an additional 27 new project sites using 800 million KRW of project funds generated from recent project plan changes or project withdrawals.
In addition, the city inspects the implementation status monthly so that all farms eligible for the Livestock Odor Improvement Project support can diagnose odor causes in advance and take immediate action on-site.
For farms with poor odor management, odor consulting by the Livestock Environment Management Institute is supported, and odor improvement is implemented through monthly on-site inspections.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “With the additional acceptance of the Livestock Odor Improvement Support Project, we will reduce the economic burden on farms for odor environment improvement and do our best to establish a solid livestock circular agriculture.”
