Choo Mi-ae: "Political Prosecutors Cannot Become Main Election Candidates"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae commented on the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency's (HCIA) forced investigation into the allegations of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's involvement in instigating accusations, stating, "I believe that HCIA's forced investigation is a fundamental aspect of proper investigation."
On the 10th, during a press conference following a policy announcement, former Minister Choo stated, "The accusation letter from Representative Kim Woong was revealed through a tip-off, and a swift planned investigation is necessary, so I consider HCIA's forced investigation to be basic." She added, "If it is not a subordinate organization of political prosecutors, it is desirable to quickly uncover the truth."
Former Minister Choo also said, "Until now, the public did not fully understand the reality of political prosecutors, and the media has exaggerated it, but if you see the dangers of political prosecutors, they cannot become main candidates," adding, "The People Power Party will also pay a heavy price for this."

Meanwhile, on the same day, the HCIA's Investigation Division 3 (Chief Prosecutor Choi Seok-gyu) dispatched six prosecutors and investigators around 10:10 a.m. to conduct a search and seizure at Representative Kim Woong's office on the 3rd floor of the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido. Representative Kim is suspected of having received accusation letters concerning ruling party figures from Son Jun-sung, then the Investigation Information Policy Officer at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and currently the Human Rights Protection Officer at Daegu High Prosecutors' Office, during last year's general election, and delivering them to the party.
