Gwangju City Council Education and Culture Committee Visits Gwangju Arts High School, Urges "Fostering Creative Talent"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Education and Culture Committee of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Chairperson Kim Na-yoon) visited the newly established Gwangju Arts Middle and High School in Maegok-dong, Buk-gu on the 7th.
The relocation of Gwangju Arts High School and the new construction of Gwangju Arts Middle School were carried out from May last year to August this year, completed with a total floor area of 25,314㎥ spanning from one basement floor to four above-ground floors.
The school was reborn with 15 classes in 5 departments for high school, 6 classes in 2 departments for middle school, and 2 classes for the Gifted Education Center.
Currently, students of Gwangju Arts High School are attending school, and the opening of Gwangju Arts Middle School (20 students in the Music Department, 20 students in the Art Department) and the Gwangju Arts Gifted Center is scheduled for March 1, 2022.
This visit was conducted to report and listen to the completion status of the relocation construction of Gwangju Arts Middle and High School and future operation plans.
The on-site visit was attended by Education and Culture Committee members of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council including Chairperson Kim Na-yoon, Vice Chairperson Jo Seok-ho, and officials from the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, strict compliance with quarantine rules such as wearing masks and social distancing was maintained.
The committee members inspected the completion status of the construction and toured the school’s educational facilities during the visit. They checked the newly constructed buildings in the order of the Music Hall, Dance Hall, Art Hall, and Gifted Middle School Building.
Chairperson Kim said, "I congratulate the completion of the construction and hope that efforts will be made to nurture creative artistic talents with beautiful character and skills."
