Kang Jin-won’s appointment as Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee breaks the expectation that he would run as an independent candidate in next year’s 8th simultaneous nationwide local elections, and it appears that his abilities and competence have been recognized at the central party level as well.
In particular, since he will be able to directly participate in the process of establishing and deciding major policies at the central party, it is expected to have a direct impact on regional development. With less than a year remaining until the local elections, attention is focused on his future moves.
Kang Jin-won, Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to Party Leader Song Young-gil, the Supreme Council members who trusted and supported me, and Representative Kim Seung-nam,” adding, “I feel a sense of responsibility as Vice Chairman not only for the region but also at the central party level, and I will contribute to the development of the region and the nation.”
Kang Jin-won, a former administrative examination pass, is an administrative expert who has held key positions in central government ministries and Jeollanam-do for over 20 years. During his tenure, he led regional development by securing 100 billion KRW in national and provincial funds for two consecutive years and surpassing 400 billion KRW in the county budget.
He was recognized for his leadership by ranking first in the “Satisfaction with the Competence of Heads of Rural and Fishing Villages” conducted by the Korea Local Autonomy Association and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
