[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] As employment was confirmed, cheers like fireworks erupted at Dongmyung University.
The company name is ‘Duzon Bizon’. Although it is common to enjoy an increase in employment rates at universities, why was it noisier this time?
Because that company is one of the top domestic companies in the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector. Moreover, not just one person but five people entered the ‘dream company’ at once.
The staff at Dongmyung University are celebrating, saying that a university strong in ‘employment-IT-industry-academia cooperation’ stands out even during COVID-19.
From pre-graduation employment, close on-and-offline counseling by employment specialist consultants, to employment special lectures conducted in a metaverse format following coursework, the university held a rare scene not often seen at other universities, bringing great joy not only to the employed students but also to the university community.
Recently, many students from the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering at Dongmyung University were selected by ‘Duzon Bizon’, Korea’s leading ICT company with the number one domestic market share.
Five current students who participated in the ‘Web Full Stack Developer Training Course’, a recruitment-linked education program for nurturing excellent IT talent in the Busan area, passed the gateway. They are Han Ju-hyung, Lee Min-joo, Kang Dong-ha, Kim Kyung-do, and Park Joo-eun.
Earlier, two students participated in the Java Full Stack expert course that started in April, and recently their recruitment at the Busan branch was confirmed. In total, seven students joined this top ICT company this year.
Professor Park Jun-mo of the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, who guided them, said, “Since 2018, we have designated employment-dedicated faculty and implemented intensive student management and curriculum reform to strengthen ICT convergence development capabilities education.”
Duzon Bizon has been operating a recruitment-linked education program since 2011. Since 2021, it has been running an ICT professional talent training program leading digital innovation in the Yeongnam region in cooperation with Bit Computer Education Center, Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency, and others.
The employment rate of trainees who joined through the education conducted so far is over 95%. It is known that about 40 people were hired through the recruitment-linked education program conducted last year.
The recruitment was done by ‘Duzon Bizon’, and the education was managed by the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency. This course, designed with an education-employment linkage structure, was conducted with the aim of nurturing excellent local ICT professionals through motivation.
The selected students will study theory and software operation management related to web operation and application software development for a total of 832 hours from September to December.
They will follow a more field-oriented ICT education course through participation in in-house practical projects conducted by Duzon Bizon and feedback from company executives and employees.
Dongmyung University is traditionally strong in employment-IT-industry-academia cooperation, with a graduate employment rate of 67.7% (2020 University Information Disclosure) and an annual scholarship amount of 3.8 million KRW per student (2020 University Information Disclosure).
Starting this September, Dongmyung University began ‘metaverse’ classes in some courses and is also conducting employment special lectures in a ‘metaverse’ format to boost employment motivation during the COVID period and prepare for future employment trends.
Nine employment specialist consultants provide close counseling to students both online and offline.
Dongmyung University is establishing Korea’s first 3-No (No Grade-Year, No Credit, No Teaching) Do-ing University and accepting freshmen.
It aims to nurture Do-ing talents who can survive in any world and lead regional development.
Do-ing University uses a P/NP (Pass/No Pass) system instead of A~F grades, allowing early graduation in three years. There are no fixed academic years.
