[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Company will halt operations again at its Asan plant in Chungnam due to disruptions in the supply of automotive semiconductors.
According to the automotive industry on the 7th, Hyundai is known to stop the Asan plant from the 9th to the 10th.
The production stoppage is caused by a semiconductor supply shortage originating from Southeast Asia. As COVID-19 spreads in Southeast Asia, semiconductor manufacturing plants for automotive use located in Malaysia and other countries are experiencing production difficulties.
This shutdown is mainly attributed to disruptions in the supply of ECU (Engine Control Unit) semiconductors from semiconductor companies' plants in Malaysia.
