Visual effects (VFX) company Dexter Studio is entering the virtual human production market. On the 7th, it announced an investment of 1 billion KRW in AI company Diovis Studio. Diovis Studio is a startup that created the virtual human 'Rui.' Rui combines virtual faces generated by AI deep learning technology with photos or videos of real people, minimizing the "uncanny valley" (the discomfort humans feel when encountering entities that closely resemble themselves), earning positive evaluations in the metaverse and avatar industries.

Last month, Dexter Studio signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Diovis Studio for "joint metaverse business promotion and collaboration on virtual face generation and synthesis technology." With this investment, they plan to expand collaboration areas to include joint R&D on virtual human production as well as content creation and business. A Dexter Studio representative said, "This can lead to synergy across diverse business areas," adding, "We will create new characters and content to apply and utilize them in various fields and make them useful as core technologies for the next-generation metaverse."
