"Enhancing Conversation Convenience with AI" SKT Adds New Features to T Phone
Q&A and Task Handling Chatbot 'SKT Chaeti'... Supports Connection to Human Agents
Converts Voice Calls to Text... Delivers Text as NUGU Voice with 'VoiceView'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom announced on the 7th that its call app T Phone has enhanced conversation convenience by releasing the ‘T Phone version 10.3.0’ with new AI-based features on the 6th.
Through this update, SK Telecom improved customer call usability by adding ▲the AI chatbot 'SK Telecom Chatty' (hereinafter Chatty) that responds to customers ▲and 'Voice View,' which allows simultaneous voice calls and text communication.
Chatty is a chatbot that customers can consult one-on-one within the T Phone app. For example, if a customer types “check bill” to Chatty, they can receive answers about their current real-time usage charges and the billing amount for the current month.
Through Chatty in T Phone, customers can use services such as gifting data and using refill coupons in addition to receiving answers to basic questions. Also, if a customer consulting with Chatty needs direct chat with a customer service representative, the function to connect to an agent is supported to help customers receive smooth consultations.
The ‘T Phone Android version 10.3.0’ also added the ‘Voice View’ feature, which allows voice calls to be communicated via text like a messenger. Voice View uses AI technology to convert voice to text and text to voice, enabling smooth calls even in situations where voice communication is difficult.
SK Telecom will first provide the Voice View feature to customers with hearing and speech disabilities. When a hearing or speech-impaired customer answers a call using Voice View, T Phone converts the caller’s voice into text and delivers the call content in a messenger window. The caller can listen to the text written by the hearing or speech-impaired customer through the NUGU voice. The NUGU voice used in calls can be changed in the T Phone settings.
Voice View can be subscribed to for free through the T World app, customer center, and distribution channels. However, only customers registered with welfare discounts for hearing and speech disabilities on SK Telecom’s communication charges can subscribe and use the service.
SK Telecom plans to expand the Voice View feature to all customers who want to use it in situations where answering calls is difficult, such as meetings and public transportation. In addition, within this year, it plans to introduce an ‘AI Call Recording’ feature that distinguishes speakers and converts the recorded voice call content into text using AI technology.
