Yoon's Side: "High Possibility That the Accusation Letter Was Written by a Third Party"... Denying 'Saju Allegations'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's side has presented several grounds to refute the so-called 'accusation solicitation suspicion.' Along with this, they suggested the possibility that the accusation letter was written by a third party.
Yoon's 'National Camp' stated on the 6th through a document titled 'Misunderstandings and Truths about the Accusation Solicitation Suspicion,' "There is ongoing defamatory reporting without approaching the substantive truth and without revealing the author and source of the accusation letter." Former Prosecutor General Yoon is currently embroiled in controversy over allegations that the Supreme Prosecutors' Office solicited the opposition party to accuse ruling party politicians ahead of the April 15 general election last year while he was in office.
First, the camp emphasized that the author and source of the accusation letter are unknown. Yoon's side explained, "Son Jun-sung, former Director of Investigation Information Policy at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, who emerged as the suspect for writing the accusation letter, denied on the 6th, saying 'The suspicion of writing and sending the accusation letter is completely untrue.' Looking at the content of the accusation letter, there are many expressions that are difficult to see as written by a prosecutor. It seems highly likely that a civic group or a third party wrote it."
Regarding the accusation letter disclosed by Hankyoreh on the same day, Yoon's side said, "It is at a level that can be written based on publicly available materials." They added, "Regarding the part about Kim Geon-hee's stock manipulation crime, apart from media reports, there is only the part stating 'In fact, Kim Geon-hee was not involved in stock manipulation at all.' There is no specific content, so it appears to have been written from a general standpoint by someone who does not know the facts."
They pointed out that including incidents of different natures in one accusation letter is 'unreasonable.' Yoon's side said, "The accusation letter contains cases of violation of the Public Official Election Act by Choi Kang-wook and others, as well as personal defamation cases against Yoon Seok-yeol, Kim Geon-hee, Han Dong-hoon, etc., all at once. The accused are different individuals, and the cases are divided into public interest cases (violation of the Public Official Election Act) and private interest cases (defamation), with different victims in the defamation cases. If a prosecutor who knows the investigation process better than anyone wrote it, writing an accusation letter like this is beyond common sense."
They also argued that there are problems with the timing of the accusation. Yoon's side stated, "April 3, 2020, was before the media's real-name report on Chief Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon. The Citizens' Coalition for Democratic Media reported the Channel A case on April 7, 2020, and the accusation letter listed 'unknown name' instead of Han Dong-hoon's real name. There was no reason to include Han Dong-hoon's real name in the accusation letter to solicit accusations." They pointed out, "Regarding Kim Geon-hee's stock manipulation case, Representative Choi Kang-wook filed an accusation on April 7, 2020. At that time, the Financial Supervisory Service and the prosecution had already announced that the preliminary investigation was closed, so there was no reason to worry about stock manipulation, and thus no reason to include it in the accusation letter."

They demanded that Representative Kim Woong reveal the truth. Yoon's side said, "Considering that Prosecutor Son Jun-sung denied writing it himself and Representative Kim Woong mentioned that 'he is the draft author,' it is consistent with the truth to see that the accusation letter was written by Representative Kim Woong or a third party." They added, "Representative Kim Woong should reveal the substantive truth about this part."
