[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the morning of the 6th, President Moon Jae-in presented appointment letters at the Blue House to Lee Seok-hyun, Senior Vice Chairman of the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council; Song Doo-hwan, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission; Ko Seung-beom, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission; and Park Jong-su, Chairman of the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee.
President Moon presented the appointment letter to Senior Vice Chairman Lee and also handed over a bouquet. The bouquet was composed of daisies, symbolizing ‘peace,’ and lily of the valley, whose flower language means ‘happiness will surely come.’
President Moon presented the appointment letter to Song Doo-hwan, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, and gave a bouquet to his spouse. The bouquet was composed of various wildflowers and forget-me-nots, whose flower language means ‘do not forget me,’ symbolizing a delicate attention to ensuring that no human rights are marginalized in our society and a request to enhance the status of the Republic of Korea as an advanced human rights nation.
President Moon presented the appointment letter to Ko Seung-beom, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission. A bouquet was given to his spouse, composed of chamomile, symbolizing the strength to overcome adversity, and small chrysanthemums, symbolizing stability. This carries a message urging efforts toward the recovery of the people’s economy and financial stability amid the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
President Moon also presented the appointment letter to Park Jong-su, Chairman of the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee, and gave a bouquet to his spouse. The bouquet was composed of asters, symbolizing trust, and gaillardia, symbolizing cooperation. This conveys a request to build trust with the 14 countries targeted by the New Northern Policy and to establish a sustainable foundation for cooperation.
