[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will hold an online career mentoring concert for working women on September 7th in celebration of 'Career Interruption Prevention Day.'
This event, organized to seek solutions to career interruption issues occurring at different stages of women's careers, offers lectures and mentoring to raise awareness about the importance of preventing career interruptions.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, pre-recorded videos will be broadcast three times through the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Women New Work Center YouTube channels.
Yoon Yeo-sun, a coaching expert and the first female executive in LG Group who served as the CEO of LG Arts Center in 2011, will give a lecture titled "You Can Become a Leader Too."
Through this lecture, former CEO Yoon will convey to employed women interested in continuous career maintenance and leadership skill enhancement the essential elements for becoming a leader, such as self-development based on their strengths and the importance of expanding their networks.
Based on stories from seven employed women selected through an online pre-application, a counseling (mentoring) session will be held where four expert mentors share their experiences and opinions on career development, workplace adaptation, communication, and stress management. The mentors participating include Bae Hyun-mi, General Manager of Lotte Signiel Busan; Kim Ji-ye, Operating Director of Job Planet; Park Hye-eun, Editor-in-Chief of The Screen; and Park Sang-mi, CEO of The Gonggam Mind School.
To promote the significance of Career Interruption Prevention Day, 75 Women New Work Centers nationwide will conduct various campaign activities such as contests, support and certification events, and counseling booths.
Starting next year, the Ministry plans to develop support models tailored to risk factors of career interruption that may occur during women's life cycles, such as pregnancy, childbirth, parental leave, and returning to work, and will pilot and expand customized, one-stop employment retention support services.
