[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Yang Kyung-soo, chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), who was arrested on charges of leading rallies in downtown Seoul amid the spread of infectious diseases, was sent to the prosecution in custody on the 6th.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's July 3 Illegal Rally Investigation Headquarters sent Chairman Yang to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in custody around 8 a.m. that day.
Chairman Yang, who came out of the Jongno Police Station detention center in Seoul that day, raised both hands cuffed above his head toward the union members in front of the police station. Around the police station, about 40 union members held placards with phrases such as "Release Chairman Yang Kyung-soo" and protested.
A scuffle also broke out as some union members blocked the escort vehicle carrying Chairman Yang.
