Seocho-gu, First Local Government to Host Youth Artists' Stage in the Metaverse
Districts Attempt to Foster Future-Oriented Young Artists Through Metaverse Utilization: Discovery → Capacity Building → Technology Integration... Applications Open Until 12th for Young Artists and Young Metaverse Creators, Selecting 6 Teams Each with 1:1 Matching
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) and the Seocho Cultural Foundation (CEO Dongho Park) are launching the 'Seoripul Z Live with Metaverse' project, the first of its kind among local governments nationwide, which connects young metaverse creators to provide opportunities for young artists to perform and enhance their future adaptability skills.
This project was established to discover talented young artists, strengthen their capabilities, and support a valuable opportunity to nurture them as future-oriented young artists through experience using new digital platforms.
The project is broadly divided into three areas: ‘Seoripul Z Live,’ ‘Metaverse World Production Class,’ and ‘Talk Concert.’
Specifically, ‘Seoripul Z Live’ is a program that selects six young artist performance teams from various music genres through an open call, provides them with 1 million KRW activity funds along with performance opportunities, and produces videos of their performances.
In the ‘Metaverse World Production Class,’ six young creator teams are separately selected and matched one-on-one with the six young artist performance teams to support promoting team performances or screening performance videos in virtual worlds using metaverse platforms such as ‘ZEPETO’ and ‘ifland.’
Through the ‘ZEPETO’ platform, promotional halls for each team will be created. After completion, visitor numbers will be counted over two weeks, and awards will be given to the top two teams with outstanding results. Using the ‘ifland’ platform, videos such as young artists’ performance videos and talk concerts will be screened, allowing virtual avatars to enjoy a unique experience of watching together with other virtual viewers.
Finally, a ‘Talk Concert’ will be held, inviting mentors of young artists to provide inspiration and growth opportunities through sincere conversations. The talk concert will also be broadcast live in real-time on the Seocho Cultural Foundation’s YouTube channel, allowing immediate questions from young people both on-site and online, sharing their concerns together.
A district official stated, “This project is expected to overcome the limitations of existing online video platforms and present a new paradigm of art and technology convergence.”
Going forward, the district plans to open applications for six young artist teams and six young creator teams by the 12th of this month and will officially proceed with the project starting in October.
