Announcement of the Results of the 'Electric Safety Management Work Status Survey'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jusangdon] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 5th that it plans to take administrative actions such as suspension of business, fines, and penalties against 26 locations where serious violations that could threaten public safety were identified during an on-site investigation conducted from May to June on 334 sites including major electrical facilities and entrusted or delegated electrical safety management operators.
The on-site investigation of electrical safety management tasks is conducted based on the "Electrical Safety Management Act" with the purpose of preventing poor electrical safety management and electrical accidents. This is the first investigation conducted since the enforcement of the Electrical Safety Management Act (April 1, 2021).
This investigation targeted vulnerable facilities presumed to be negligent in continuous safety management among all electrical facilities, and was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, local governments, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and private experts.
As a result of the investigation, minor safety management deficiencies such as "incomplete preparation of safety management records and omission of some inspection items" were identified at 174 sites (52.1%). The electrical safety managers of these sites were advised to improve and supplement the deficiencies, and guidance and advice on preparing safety management regulations were provided.
