[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeonnam Haenam-gun (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) has designated the entire month of September as a special quarantine measure implementation period in preparation for the upcoming Chuseok holiday, and decided to devote all administrative efforts to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

According to the Haenam-gun Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 3rd, a comprehensive situation room composed of seven task forces by sector will be operated, and an emergency duty system will be maintained to ensure that the quarantine system, including quarantine management and diagnostic testing during the holiday period, can operate normally as usual.

During the five-day holiday period from the 18th to the 22nd, emergency duty will be carried out by each department at the county office and health center to maintain quarantine measures such as social distancing. In addition, in case of confirmed cases, a disaster situation management system will be activated with all staff working.

The county will first ask residents and hometown visitors to refrain from traveling to their hometowns and relatives, minimize face-to-face contact, and vigorously promote a safe Chuseok campaign to create a quarantine atmosphere and prevent spread.

In cases where visiting hometowns or returning to hometowns is unavoidable, it is recommended to take a COVID-19 diagnostic test in advance at the place of residence before departure or at temporary screening clinics operated at highway rest areas.

In particular, the bus terminal, a major facility used by returning visitors during the Chuseok holiday, will continue to operate vehicle interior disinfection and fever screening stations, and intensive guidance and inspection will be conducted to ensure compliance with quarantine rules at major tourist sites and multi-use facilities.

Also, campaigns to comply with quarantine rules such as wearing masks will be conducted at traditional markets and marts, with a focus on promoting mandatory mask-wearing and other quarantine measures.

This Chuseok as well, to discourage hometown visits by visitors, a grass-cutting proxy service is being provided, and the Namdo Wide-area Memorial Park’s enshrinement facilities and natural burial sites will be temporarily closed during the Chuseok holiday period.

The grass-cutting proxy service can be applied for at the town and township offices where the graves are located until the 10th, and the Haenam-gun Forestry Cooperative will perform the grass-cutting service for a fee of 50,000 KRW per grave.

Also, since visiting the Namdo Wide-area Memorial Park during the holiday period is difficult, visitors are encouraged to use the memorial park website’s enshrinement photo provision service and the e-Haneul Funeral Information System for non-face-to-face online memorial services.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, “There are still many self-quarantined individuals related to entertainment establishments, so we cannot let our guard down even for a moment. This Chuseok holiday period could be another critical moment, so we will maintain thorough quarantine measures with the safety of residents as the top priority.”
