View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential primary candidate and Governor of Gyeonggi Province, raised his voice saying that the so-called 'prosecution request for accusation' allegations surrounding former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol "must be thoroughly investigated."
On the 2nd, Lee posted on his Facebook, titled "Shocking commissioned accusation by the prosecution... Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol must respond directly," urging former Prosecutor General Yoon to clarify his position on the 'prosecution request for accusation' allegations.
Lee stated, "I came across a shocking report that, ahead of last year's general election when Yoon Seok-yeol was Prosecutor General, a key incumbent prosecution official commissioned the People Power Party to accuse ruling party figures who led prosecution reform and journalists," adding, "If true, strict responsibility must be held."
He continued, "According to the report, the person who commissioned the accusation was the head of the Investigation Information Policy Office at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, who was a close aide to Prosecutor General Yoon at the time. The Investigation Information Policy Office is one of the prosecution's core departments," and "It was the office that produced documents monitoring judges under Yoon's orders last year. If true, it is hard to believe this was done alone without the Prosecutor General's instruction or tacit approval," raising suspicion.
Lee added, "I hope this is not true," but also said, "If it is true, it is blatant political intervention by the prosecution and a clear attempt at a prosecution coup. It means the Prosecutor General privatized prosecution power, used it as a weapon to shake the government, and not only intervened politically and planned retaliatory investigations but also conducted political operations to block reports about the Prosecutor General's wife."
Lee emphasized, "Although (former Prosecutor General Yoon) said, 'I do not loyally serve any person outwardly,' he turned the entire prosecution into an organization loyal to himself," and added, "The Ministry of Justice must immediately launch a fact-finding investigation."
He also said, "Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who was Prosecutor General at the time, must also explain directly," and "This is not a matter to be glossed over with clumsy scapegoating, diversion, or evasive rhetoric."
