Jeonnam Education Autonomy Platform 'Launch Ceremony' Elects Representative Kim Dae-jung

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Education Autonomy Platform held its launching ceremony on the 2nd at Cinema Lounge MM in Mokpo and officially began its activities.
Due to the extension of the COVID-19 level 3 restrictions, the ceremony was scaled down and broadcast live via YouTube.
The Jeonnam Education Autonomy Platform attracted attention with the participation of many former officials, including Kwak Jong-wol, former Director of Education at the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, as well as former Directors of Education, Administrative Directors, and Education Superintendents.
In particular, it is known that about 3,100 members joined, including Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members, university professors, student council presidents, former officials of the Provincial Office of Education, members of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union, and figures from civic organizations.
At the launching ceremony, Kim Dae-jung, a member of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation's steering committee, the chairman of Mokpo City Council, and former secretary-general of the Jeonnam Office of Education during the first and second directly elected terms, was elected as the representative.
Representative Kim Dae-jung is recognized as a figure who led the election organization during former Superintendent Jang Man-chae’s tenure and is evaluated to have a solid position based on his excellent political acumen. Representative Kim is scheduled to announce his candidacy for the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education election on the 8th.
Representative Kim stated, “The Jeonnam Education Autonomy Platform aims to create a future vision for Jeonnam through social grand compromise and to develop customized talent cultivation programs for this purpose,” adding, “Through this process, we will realize Jeonnam-style educational autonomy.”
He continued, “We will verify the education-related pledges of presidential candidates and expand the foundation of educational autonomy.”

The Jeonnam Education Autonomy Platform plans to establish communication spaces through social networking services such as Facebook and to separately build a policy council platform in the future.
