Seongap Kim, Mayor of Gwangjin District, Issues Urgent Appeal Amid Prolonged 4th Wave of COVID-19
Emphasizing Participation in Vaccination, Halting Private Gatherings, Refraining from Holiday Travel, and Preemptive Testing for One Person per Household
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin District, issued an urgent appeal in response to the prolonged 4th wave of COVID-19 and the rapid increase in confirmed cases.
Mayor Kim emphasized the effectiveness of vaccination, stating, "According to the analysis of confirmed cases in Gwangjin District in August, the proportion of confirmed cases among those aged 60 and over, who have a high vaccination rate, was low, while more than half of the confirmed cases were in their 20s and 30s."
He then urged residents to overcome the crisis by ▲participating in the second dose of vaccination ▲stopping private gatherings and refraining from travel during the Chuseok holiday ▲conducting preemptive testing for at least one family member.
Mayor Kim concluded, "Although the COVID-19 situation is very severe nationwide, Gwangjin District will definitely protect its residents from the virus."
Currently, the 1st Vaccination Center (Jayang Gymnasium) and the 2nd Vaccination Center (Junggok Culture and Sports Center) are administering Pfizer vaccinations; the Gwangjin District Public Health Center is administering Janssen and AstraZeneca vaccinations; and entrusted medical institutions are administering Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations.
Additionally, to increase testing convenience and proactively respond to confirmed cases related to the holiday, a temporary screening clinic will be additionally operated in front of Dongseoul Terminal from September 3 to 30.
Accordingly, from September 3, COVID-19 testing will be available at five locations within Gwangjin District: ▲Gwangjin District Public Health Center Screening Clinic ▲Junggok Health Branch Temporary Screening Clinic ▲Jayang Health Branch Temporary Screening Clinic ▲Konkuk University Hospital ▲Dongseoul Terminal.
