Gokseong-gun Launches Pilot Project for Automatic Access Control System in River Areas
Godalmyeon Dugase Sewolgyo, Dugok Sewolgyo, and 2 other locations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced on the 2nd that it has been finally selected for the pilot project of the automatic river and area access blocking system, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (hereinafter referred to as the ‘River Access Blocking Project’).
The River Access Blocking Project is one of the disaster safety special grant policy projects for 2021. With this selection, Gokseong-gun will receive a special grant of 200 million KRW to promote the project. The project targets two locations: Dugasewolgyo Bridge (Duga 1 District) and Dugoksewolgyo Bridge (Duga 2 District), both crossing the Seomjin River in Godal-myeon.
Until now, access control to areas vulnerable to river flooding damage has relied on manpower. When sudden heavy rainfalls occur or during vulnerable time periods, there were inevitable limitations in response. The River Access Blocking Project being promoted this time aims to build an IoT-based automated access blocking system to respond quickly to various situations.
To expedite the project, Gokseong-gun plans to conduct field surveys and detailed designs in September and complete the project before the flood season next year.
Additionally, to enhance the project’s effectiveness, there are plans to link the automated blocking system with the CCTV integrated control center and the National Disaster Management System (NDMS).
