Annual Global Sales Target of 400,000 Units
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Group's luxury car brand Genesis will launch all new vehicles as hydrogen and electric cars starting in 2025.
As part of the strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035, Genesis plans to complete a lineup of eight hydrogen and battery electric vehicle models by 2030, aiming to dominate the global eco-friendly luxury car market.
On the 2nd, Genesis unveiled the 'Futuring Genesis' video online and announced this electrification brand vision.
Jung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, said in the video, "Genesis, launched as a luxury brand, has been recognized as a global luxury brand with a complete lineup and excellent product quality," adding, "This announcement marks the starting point of Genesis's bold journey and will be an opportunity to envision a sustainable future led by Genesis through innovative vision."
First, Genesis presented the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, the first within the group, based on the 'Dual Electrification' strategy and technology development, which means launching only fuel cell-based hydrogen cars and battery-based electric cars. To this end, Genesis aims to complete a lineup of eight hydrogen and battery electric vehicle models by 2030 and expand annual sales to 400,000 units globally.
Along with the transition to hydrogen and electric vehicle lineups, Genesis emphasized the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by innovating all value chains, including raw materials, parts, water, and production processes. Jang Jae-hoon, President of Genesis, stated, "Genesis will establish itself as a brand leading the electrification era based on sustainability beyond luxury," and added, "We will continuously strive to exchange positive changes and create a better future through genuine interaction with customers."
Genesis also introduced various future concepts such as the Stage Door, where the B-pillar (the pillar between the front and rear doors) disappears and the front and rear doors open wide facing each other in opposite directions; the Swivel Seat, which rotates the seats; mood lighting that welcomes and embraces the driver; and a heating system inspired by traditional ondol floor heating.
