Haenam-gun to Build a Resort Hotel with 120 Rooms in Hwawon Osiano Tourist Complex

Haenam-gun and Korea Tourism Organization Promote Leading Project for Osiano Tourist Complex Revitalization

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeonnam Haenam-gun announced on the 1st that it held a promotion council on the 30th of last month at the situation room to establish a leading project for the revitalization of the Osiano Tourist Complex and to build various cooperative systems for the Osiano Resort Hotel.

The Osiano Tourist Complex was designated in 1992 with an area of approximately 5,073,000㎡, and after starting land acquisition in 1995, it proceeded in earnest. In 2012, the golf course, roads within the complex, and site development were completed.

Until now, the lack of a public sewage treatment facility has caused difficulties in project promotion, but with the construction cost of the public sewage treatment plant supported by national and provincial funds, basic surveys and detailed designs are underway aiming to complete the first phase of a 1,500t/day treatment facility by 2023.

Additionally, the Korea Tourism Organization plans to build the Osiano Resort Hotel by 2023, equipped with 120 rooms, an infinity pool, banquet hall, observation caf?, restaurant, kids pool, and other ancillary facilities.

In line with this, Haenam-gun plans to actively promote leading projects for the revitalization of the Osiano Tourist Complex, such as the Haesu Town, complex shopping mall, and local specialty product sales center, to develop the Osiano Tourist Complex as a pivotal hub for stay-type tourism in the southwestern region of Jeonnam.

At the promotion council held that day, there were exchanges of opinions on the operation plan of the council, roles of each institution, and target sites for leading projects. Kwak Jun-gil, Deputy County Governor, was elected as chairman, and Lee Dae-jin, Director of Tourism, and Kim Seok, Regional Tourism Director of the Korea Tourism Organization, were elected as vice-chairmen.

Chairman Kwak Jun-gil stated, “We will do our best together with the Tourism Organization so that the promotion council can serve as a focal point for the development of the tourist complex and the revitalization of tourism.”
