Geochang-gun Operates Antenna Shop for Agricultural Specialty Foods in Chicago, USA
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 30th that it will operate the 'Geochang Excellent Agricultural and Specialty Products Overseas Antenna Shop' inside the Korean supermarket Woori Village in Chicago, USA, for three months from October to December.
An antenna shop is a strategic store established to study product development and sales promotion plans by understanding consumer preferences and reactions.
Earlier, Gyeongnam Province has been operating an antenna shop inside the Korean supermarket Woori Village in Chicago, USA, from June to November. The antenna shop sells 80 agricultural and marine products from Gyeongnam Province.
Separately from Gyeongnam Province, Geochang-gun operates its own overseas antenna shop for Geochang-gun agricultural and specialty products inside the Korean supermarket Woori Village. This is to raise awareness of Geochang-gun's agricultural and specialty products and to expand exports to the United States. Geochang-gun's antenna shop will operate for three months until December.
The county began exporting the first batch of agricultural and specialty products through Busan Port on the 27th. The first export includes 28 items from 7 companies. The 28 items include mixed grains, bugak (fried seaweed snacks), omija liquid tea, noodles, apple juice, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste), and balloon flower root extract.
The county plans to discover new products and additionally export them to the antenna shop. To this end, various policies are being implemented to develop export channels, such as promoting non-face-to-face export consultation meetings for local export companies struggling with exports due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
