[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] Former People Power Party Vision Strategy Office Chief Kim Geunsik criticized the ruling party, which continued to call People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Heesook's resignation intention over her father's speculation allegations a "show," saying they are "no different from gangsters."
On the 30th, Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyunjung's News Show' and said, "Watching the Democratic Party, I thought of a criminal gang carrying out a group beating, saying 'Everyone is living dirty, so why are you trying to live clean?'"
He said, "I believe Lawmaker Yoon is a straightforward, direct politician, so she is not someone who would use such tricks. She said she would resign because she was too ashamed of her own double standards and it was a burden to regime change, so she should be praised."
He added, "And if we praise her, then 'Ah, our party also has many double standards,' so the Democratic Party should feel the pressure to resign due to their own double standards," he pointed out.
Earlier, on the 29th, Kim also pointed out on his Facebook, "Democratic Party lawmakers who disparage Lawmaker Yoon Heesook's resignation as a show and mock and oppose her resignation have long been accustomed to shameless and irresponsible politics."
He criticized that the reason the Democratic Party belittles Yoon's resignation as a show is simple: "Even when charged with criminal allegations, convicted, confirmed by the Supreme Court, and even after serving full sentences, they do not admit their mistakes. They are desperate to deny their faults and avoid political responsibility by invoking the court of history until the end."
He went on to mention the past words and actions of ruling party figures one by one, saying, "Cho Kuk raised his head and advocated for prosecution reform even after a guilty verdict, Han Myeongsook pretended to be an independence activist claiming innocence after serving a full sentence, and Yoon Meehyang, charged with fraud against comfort women grandmothers, claims to be a progressive," calling them "shameless political figures with thick faces lacking shame, responsibility, and morality."
Regarding Yoon's resignation from her parliamentary position, Kim said, "Lawmaker Yoon decided to resign to take the highest level of political responsibility for her father's speculative allegations and the farmland purchase she did not know about in advance. She is trying to uphold the high moral standards of a politician who is strict with herself and takes responsibility," calling it "Yoon Heesook-style politics" that is strict with oneself and responsible.
